The river of five colours — Colombia's natural wonder
Caño Cristales is known as the river of five colours, or the world's most beautiful river. Its crystal-clear waters flow over multicoloured rock beds where Macarenia clavigera algae proliferate, dyeing the riverbed a deep crimson that contrasts with the yellow, green, blue and black of the rock.
Caño Cristales can only be visited between June and November, when water levels are optimal. Book well in advance.
